Huh, What???

I have been soooo Cali for the past couple of months lol. Sometimes hearing certain songs makes me miss home. I havent been back for a couple years and I have been feeling a little homesick I especially miss the fresh fruit (im from the Central Valley... San Joaquin Valley to be exact nobody has better fruits or vegetables) lol a small rant. But anywho everytime I hear this song though it makes me think of home and eating a asada or pastor taco from the taco truck. It also makes me think of one of Rickey Smiley's stand ups. This song was sampled from Master P and Young Bleed and this guy gives them a shout out at the very beginning of the song. Its a fun song that will make you move everytime you hear it. I hope you get just as excited as I do. *planning my much needed trip back home as I type* lol with no further ado... Problem~ Like whaaaat??

Power Trip J Cole

I think that I am addicted to this song right now. Love the beat, love J. Cole's story, and Miguel what can I say, I am probably his biggest fan in the world. He is actually what drew me to this song I couldnt get the chorus out of my head. I am literally humming it as I type. I first heard the song in my Frank Ocean Pandora station and kept thinking it was Drake (because I have to listen to Pandora at work friendly volumes) Then the boo asked me if I had seen the video and I hadnt so he pulled it up for me. I was a little disturbed after I saw the video, for those who havent seen it I'll just let you watch. For those who have... What in the world??? lol. So while I love J's delievery of the story my fav lyric has to go to Miguel, mainly because he has such a beautiful voice "would you believe me if  I said I'm in love? Baby, I want you to want me..." Just watch the video and of course listen to the lyrics...

Love her!!!

So it has been a little min. I may have like 800 posts today because I have a lot of fav songs and videos right now. I posted one of my fav songs Ghost Town DJ's My Boo about a month ago. Probably the next day I heard Ciara's Body Party on the radio and was like OMG she sampled it and I just posted that song LOL. I saw the video a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you I love, love, love!! The night I saw it I watched it about 5 times back to back and have been meaning to put it up since then. I actually do not have a fav lyric in this song, its just a cute, sexy song that I like to do a body roll too haha but I do have a favorite part of the video, at the end of the first verse when she sings the chorus and says "I'm doing this little dance for you" and she and her dancers are squatting and doing a little booty bounce, I bounce right along with them every time. About two nights ago I was walking around singing this song in my moms kitchen (random I know) and my sister heard me and proceeded to tell me how much she does NOT like Ciara. I could have punched her but instead I pulled out the iPad took her to my VEVO app and made her watch the video. Needless to say she likes the song now and Ciara a little better lol... Enjoy!

Life Gotten! Yaaasss!!!

OMG so I forgot how much I looove the Diddy Dirty Money album Last Train to Paris. This morning I was trying to figure out where a lyric I read somewhere came from so I googled it and it ended up being from the song "I Know" off of this album. In the bottom corner of the screen there was a Dirty Money video from YouTube of course I clicked it and as soon as it started playing I was flooded with all kinds of memories of me cruising through the streets of Atlanta in my blue VW Beetle aptly named 'Lady' (we had some great times she and I *I have a huge smile and a cartoon thinking bubble coming from the side of my head hahaha*) Anywho... The video was 'I hate that you love me' I am currently listening to it, typing and doing the Diddy Bop around my house LOL. I had to pull out my Zune now it is officially Dirty Money day and just in time for this fabulous spring weather. I just love re-discovering music! So today I present to you Diddy Dirty Money I Hate That You Love Me! Oops! almost forgot my lyrics "lets not forget, back in brooklyn, where the future, first began, lets start again, cant be over, thats what I told her, and then she said..." Enjoy!

My God is AWESOME!!

I was riding in the car with my sister and nephew last night listening to Praise 102.5 and I heard what sounded like my favorite gospel song right now Awesome by Charles Jenkins and Fellowhip Chicago playing but the beat had a little more bass to it and it had some solo spots. LOL I was bobbing my head and was like man I love this!! it must be the remix to my jam. A lady was singing then a guy came in and their voices were astounding. Then there was a beat drop and a rapper came in he had a great flow (now I do not like gospel rap, other than Lecrae lol) so I had to find out who this was. After a quick Google search which was pretty much me typing in Charles Jenkins Awesome Remix and there it was!! I found out that it is on the Canton Jones: Kingdom Business 4 album and it was Pastor Charles Jenkins feat Jessica Reedy, Issac, and Da Truth. Now I love both versions so you can listen to both below. My lyrics for this song is the entire song I love it soo much I couldn't just pick out an absolute fav!! I hope you enjoy as much as I do!!

Bad

In a weird mood tonight lol... I've just been scrolling through YouTube and I clicked on a Wale song that I love. Some people would consider some of the lyrics ratchet but Wale for me is a Poet! He can make some of the craziest lyrics sound like spoken word. I love the vibe of this song, the beat is great, you can do a meeean body roll with a stank face while grooving to it hahaha. My Line "she hurt feelings, she break hearts, she stay quiet, she play smart, she take pride, in going out, getting hollered at, and saying nah, she's no saint, but she don't pose, she don't wear makeup by the boat load..." I personally can identify with this part of the song IDK maybe I knew Wale in one of Erykah Badu's other lifetimes... Anywho lets get on with it!!
(Side note: Do you peep the bed sqeaking in the background?? pays a little homage to Trillville's  song Some Cut now dont act like you dont know what song that is LOL)

Don't Judge Me...

For some unknown reason Rocko has always been near and dear to my heart. Maybe its the hoodrat that lives deep deep deep inside of me, but he always has a tune that makes me tap my foot a little bit, no I'm lying a lot of bit, his beats make me do my hood girl two step and I get sooo excited when I hear this song in my car and especially when I am out and about. I kind of feel like I loose some I.Q. points when I listen to him, but I just cant help it. Lyric Time "Take money, I'm macho hoe, If I finess you out yo' dough, thats nacho dough...You said that was yours, survey said, thats nachos, you said that you run the town, streets say, thats nachos" Yea I know, just come along and loose some brain cells with me hahaha!!

Poetic Justice

I absolutely looooove this Video... I just saw it for the first time on Saturday and since then have probably watched it 10 times and counting. Kendrick Lamar is one of the reasons I started this blog. Lyrics, lyrics and more lyrics.  The cinematography of the video is just as poetic as the song. I especially like the slow motion shots and how they reverse a little bit and then continue. I thoroughly enjoy all 3 verses of the song but my favorite lines are how Kendrick and Drake end their verses..."They say conversation rule the nation, I can tell, but I could never right my wrongs, 'less I write them down for real, P.S. -Kendrick "They say Communication save relations I can tell, but I can never right my wrongs, 'less I write them down for real P.S.-Drake. My other favorite is from Kendrick's third verse..."Every time I write these words, they become a taboo, making sure my punctuation curve, every letter is true, living my life inside the margin and that metaphor was proof..." I adore this video just as much as the song, the video may have even made me love the song that much more. Enjoy  P.S. (pun intended lol) Poetic Justice is in my top 10 favorite movie list of all time fyi :-)

Love Love Love This

Everyone who knows me, knows I am a sucker for Cheesy movies and Love Stories!! The Cheesier the better. A couple of months ago I saw the movie Pitch Perfect and boy was it GREAT!!! Since the first time I saw it in November I have watched it maybe 10 times. I now know all of the words and songs. From this movie I fell in love with some artists I had never heard before, one being LuLu and the Lampshades. In the movie the character Beca (played by Anna Kendrick, 90210) did an audition for an A Capella singing group and her audition song was from LuLu. After hearing it I had to find it. I found the original, I like it but I love Anna's version better. My Lyrics: "I've got my ticket for the long way 'round, The one with the prettiest of views, It's got mountains, It's got rivers, It's got sights to give you shivers, But it sure would be prettier with you..." Enjoy, definitely on my poetic side.

Side Note: I sooooo wish it was longer :-/

Right Before Valentines Day is over...(I guess on the west coast)

Valentines day is officially over on the East Coast but I am from Cali so technically we have another 2 hours and 14 mins to keep this thing rocking. However it is my booksi's bday on the east so in honor of V-Day love and his bday my song of choice for the night is from none other than Ms. Erykah Badu. When I first got the Mama's Gun album I did NOT like this song and would always skip over it. That is until the summer before my senior year in college I fell in love, once my heart was snatched up this song took on a whole new meaning. I can lay for hours listening to it on repeat and smiling. I looove every lyric and every note, however my favorite line is "He gets to smile, and I get to be Orange..." I absolutely adore being orange. Some say that there can be a parallel drawn in this song, that she is either talking about her relationship with God, or a man, or both. Listening to the lyrics closely it can be deduced that she quite possibly could be referring to both. That being said it will go into our poetic category. Well without further ado... Orange Moon! (Happy Valentines Day to all and if my dearest is reading this Happy Birthday!!!)

Grammy Inspiration

Watching the Grammy's and I got inspired to post. I am soooo excited for Frank Ocean I could just kick something LOL. I was in my room cheering when he won you would have thought he was my brother. The highlight for me was that for each award he was nominated for they played his song Pyramids which is one of my FAVORITE songs on his album, always gets me rockin'. While the video is very explicit and should be in the ratchet category lol it is artistic and we all know that Frank is nothing less than Poetic!!! Lines please.... "Pimpin in my convos, bubbles in my champagne, let it be some jazz playin, top floor motel suite twisting cigars floor model tv with the VCR, got rubies in my *darn* chain, whip aint got no gas tank, but it still got wood grain..." ha! I know its the entire first verse give or take a few lines but what can I say. Just play the song. *Warning video shows nudity fyi lol*

So Random LOL

I was just watching Bounce Beats on Bounce TV and this video came on. I have heard this song a few times, I LOVE it, and hum it randomly. Now the artist is in  No way fashion or form eye candy so the video threw me off a tad hahahaha. In any event though I thoroughly enjoy the song... Here you go, Mr. Marcus Canty.

**I realized that from the lyrics Mr. Canty needs to be in the Ratchet section LOL***

It's SUNDAY!!! (My Oprah Yell Voice)

This lovely afternoon I will go with a selection that is near and dear to my heart right now. And because it is Sunday! it will be a gospel selection. Every single time this song comes on and it just changes my mood makes me smile and I sing my life away. I told my sister the other night that I was going to start putting out YouTube videos so I can get discovered. I just want to be a one hit wonder LOL is that too much to ask for??? Anywho, this afternoons song of choice is by Tamela Mann. The line that makes me melt... "take me to the King, I don't have much to bring, my heart is torn in pieces, its my offering, lay me at the thrown, leave me there alone, to gaze upon your glory and sing to you this song." love it love it love it!!!

Discovery

I have been listening to my Bruno Mars Pandora station a lot lately (btw its a work friendly station lol) I have discovered a lot of new music from it. This is a little diddy that I find myself humming throughout the day once I hear it. So whats my lyric?..."You didn't have to stoop so low, have your friends collect your records and then change your number, I guess that I don't need that though, now you're just somebody that I used to know." I love the flow of how he sings it. Gotye Everyone.
* Side Note* Yea I know the video is weird lol

Eureka!! lol

Driving home with my Zune on shuffle and and oldie but goodie came on. Back when 2 Chainz was known as the eloquent Tity Boi, he was still as ratchet as they come. He made a classic song called "Boo" while the chorus is quite hilarious, it is the entire first verse that takes me all the way down. The exact part that makes me throw my hands in the air and yell "aaaaayyyyeee" is approximately 1:25 on the attached video and also happens to be a mix of my favorite lyric as well as when the beat drops simultaneously. The line " I just call her boo, I think her name is Ana, I met her in Miami, she say she from Atlanta." while the lyric does not incite much creativity the beat dropping is what makes it oh so poetic!!  While listening please be sure to pay attention to the ad libs because they are the cheese on top of this Pizza!! Here you go...
* Side note* watch the girl who is dancing next to the black car by herself as she does the traditional hood song bounce the entire video

...For the Poetic

I had a conversation on facebook the other night about one of my favorite songs in the whoole entire universe!! None other than Green Eyes by Erykah Badu. This lady has a way with words that make you feel like she is talking directly to you and she knows exactly what you are going through at that moment. Or even if you are not going through it you start to question yourself like "dang did that just happen to me" and you know it didnt hahaha. Her lyrics are powerful and poetic and she uses them to make beautiful music with purpose and passion. My fav album hands down Mama's Gun. I can listen to it on repeat for days and never skip a song (with the exception of Penitentary Philosophy which is the first song) as far as I'm concerned the album starts with Didn't 'cha you, just my humble opinion. My fav lyrics from Green Eyes... from the intro "my eyes are green 'cause I eat a lot of vegetables, it dont have nothin to do with your new "friend"." From the bridge, "Never knew that love could hurt like this, never thought I would but I got dissed, makes me feel so sad and hurt inside, feel embarrased so I want to hide, silly me I thought your love was true, changed my name to Silly E. Badu, before I heal its gonna be a while, I know its gonna be a while 'chile" yaaaaassss I'm catching it as I'm typing LOL. But enjoy and please continue listening to the song that it transitions to at the end I love it as well :-) Smooches

Starting off the Ratchet side...

This is my jam of the week. I can't get enough of it. The lyrics are down right horrible, but it has been proven that with a good beat anything can be tolerated LOL!! My fave line... I cant tell you ahahahaha ill just go with my fav ad lib on this one "Yeah Yeah"-Future.

All Things Ratchet and Poetic

So the other day I was inspired to create a blog that was dedicated to Music and specifically lyrics of songs from every possible genre. My close friends and family know that music plays a big role in my life. As a child and now also as an adult people get mad at me because I know a looooot of songs. My sisters friends used to hate me because on road trips and long car rides I would sing along with the radio or CD and sing every song every word without skipping a beat. They would often try to "stump" me like "I bet she doesnt know this song," yet I always did LOL. What can I say I just love love music. My favorite of course is R&B and and Neo-soul but I listen to just about everything except classical and hard core heavy metal. Plus ratchet ratchet hood music holds a special place in my heart (hints the name of the blog), I dont know what it is but I just cant contain myself from dancing and singing along, in my car and in my room "I cant stop dancing." In my past with a bit of liquid courage I have been known to dance to it for several hours without sitting, I know, I know... *holds down head in shame* Well come along on this ride with me as week by week I will be posting some of my favorite songs, videos, and lyrics old and new. Feel free to leave comments and send emails to feature one of your favorite songs as well. Ill make this as interactive as possible. Let the fuuuuun Begin!!!
